Come One, Come All: The Greatest Showman Wedding Inspiration

This is the greatest show!

The Greatest Showman captured the hearts of many this year, including mine. The movie follows the story of how legendary showman, P.T. Barnum, brought together the mystique and magic of "The Greatest Show on Earth". Full of colour, vibrancy and song, it's a beautiful musical story of love and learning to love yourself. The movie's overall vibe is magical and pretty fitting for a wedding theme. Today we're sharing our love for this infectious film with a The Greatest Showman Wedding Inspiration Palette featuring a bold vintage circus feel with plenty of pomp and ceremony that would delight even P.T. himself. Could this be the wedding moodboard for you?

How to get The Greatest Showman Wedding Look...

  • The Stationery: A vintage circus poster is the perfect inspiration for your wedding invitation suite. Carry the look through your on-the-day stationery like ceremony programs and menus.  We also love the idea of featuring some of the iconic quotes from the movie on signage around your venue.
  • The Style: One rule: have fun! For grooms, a full top and tails suit complete with braces and bowtie and, for brides, pair your gown with an oversized headpiece or elaborate jewels.
  • The Flowers: You can be as eclectic as you like when it comes to choosing your flowers for this look but avoid anything overly pink and pretty. Pair bold anemones, red roses and cream ranunculus with dahlias and lush greenery. Finish your bouquet with trailing luxe velvet and gold ribbon.
  • The Decor and Cake: There are not many rules when it comes to a circus wedding theme. It's all about pairing weird and wonderful ideas together but we recommend sticking to the main palette of red, white, black and gold and bring in other colours through details such as balloons and fun circus props. Fill your space with lots of vintage furniture, eclectic table centrepieces and plenty of gold accents. There are lots of hire companies who offer vintage circus-style tents such as Magnum Warehouse and Circus Stardust or turn any venue into a circus tent with red and white fabric draped from the ceiling. An over-the-top cake, popcorn station, cotton candy and sweets stand (a must at any show!), is the icing on the cake. With details like these, it's set to be the Greatest Show on Earth!
