Let us introduce you to a magnificent winter wedding day complete with black-tie elegance, sparkling lights, classic fur shawls, pearl accessories, and heart-shaped sunglasses with a vintage touch! Kenny and Treasa, our real wedding couple invited 15o of their loved ones to celebrate in the hills of Co. Donegal to celebrate their love story, and Jude Browne captured the beautiful imagery. If you're in search of winter or Christmas wedding inspiration, then get lost in this dreamy images below!
Treasa and Kenny first met online on Bumble. However, Kenny didn’t wait to make his move, Treasa explains: "He drove to Derry the next day to take me for a pint of Guinness! We got engaged in Adare Manor in January 2022 and it was a total surprise. The staff of the hotel made such a fuss of us it was magical!"
They describe the winter wedding day as elegant, intimate and completely laid back! "We wanted a laid-back day where everyone could relax into it. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the dancefloor never emptied!" Important elements when planning was that they would get married in Treasa's local church and also that they could spend the morning getting ready at home with her family. "These were big priorities and also something Kenny was passionate about. We really wanted a special day that we got to spend with our closest family and friends!"
Treasa's bridal style blends timeless elegance with a contempoary twist! Donning a sophisticated Suzanne Neville gown, with a magnificent Bardot neckline and pleated skirt. A breathtaking bespoke headpiece from bridal deisgner Margaret Coyne Couture, completed the ensemble! Both the bride and the groom's mothers also wore bespoke designs by Margaret Coyne Couture with simply stunning style results.
A particular floral touch that made the day special to the bride was from their florist, Ann. "She is my sister-in-law and I landed her with the task of making our bouquets and buttonholes 10 days before the wedding. She did the most fabulous job as you can see from the pictures. I love that our bouquets were artificial so we will always have them as a memento from the day!" says Treasa.
Arriving at the ceremony at St. Columbas Church, in co. Derry, Treasa says she adored every moment of the wedding mass. "It had the most special feeling. Fr. Mongan went above and beyond for us making our mass so personal. It was lovely to sit at the side of the altar and see all our guests during our ceremony. It's hard to put into words but it was magical. We found the wedding itself a very humbling experience. To see all your closest family and friends in one room celebrating for you is just unbelievable. We are very lucky to be surrounded by the best people."
The ceremony space was decked out in festive decor and blooming poinsettias! Their favourite ceremony reading was Our Homily as it was extra personal to the couple. "Our musicians also played Oh Holy Night and it was stunning!" they add.
After the ceremony, they celebrated at at the beautiful wedding venue of Rockill House, a family-run country manor house with a view of Letterkenny in the Donegal Hills. They explain what made them fall in love with this wedding venue for their magical winter wedding: "Kenny was blown away by Rockhill House the minute he walked in. He has a keen interest in old buildings and especially those with a history behind them. Also, the function room was fabulous. It was like a large orangery placed over the courtyard and the chandeliers were gorgeous. It had a very grand aesthetic whilst having a feeling of cosiness!"
Oh, how we do adore a pair of bridal sunglasses, especially Treasa's retro-style pair!
When asked what inspired their wedding aesthetic, they say. "To be honest it might sound silly but our wedding aesthetic was like an extension of home. We even decorated it with things we pinched from my homeplace. Basically, if you could name an aesthetic after my mother then that’s what we had!" How sweet!
A bridesmaid look that's full of flair! Rich navy gowns in satin, paired with fur stoles, and sunglasses to match the bride's pair - all amp up the glam factor, but the individual headpieces and hairstyle allows each bridesmaid to express her own style! The gentlemen followed suit, literally, in classic black-tie tuxedos and buttonholes featuring seasonal thistles.
As for wedding tips and tricks, the couple shared short and sweet words of advice: "Enjoy it. Don’t overthink it or have a fixed theme. Make your day a reflection of you as a couple. Don’t stress about the little things, everything will come together in the end!"
They welcomed the night with epic music and a first dance to Everlasting Love by Love Story.
Although they haven’t booked their honeymoon yet, instead they snuck off to the sun two weeks before the wedding and had a pre-wedding honeymoon! "To be honest it was the best thing we could have done. We just relaxed together and parked the wedding plans for a few days!" We absolutley love this idea.
A very special thank you, Kenny, Treasa and Jude Browne for sharing their beautiful winter wedding with us at One Fab Day!
