Saying your vows against the backdrop of the pastel-hued buildings of the Amalfi Coast, the cerulean sky and the sparkling sapphire ocean sounds like something out of a movie, right? Well, it's fair to say that our real wedding couple Lauren and Jeremy had a destination wedding of epically glamorous proportions. The California love birds tied the knot in an intimate and classic ceremony in Positano in Italy in May 2022 and it had everything from a dreamy open-air ceremony to a private boat ride with bubbles. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that they pulled it all off in several months! Get ready to drool over their Positano wedding exquisitively captured by Peggy Picot from Maison Pestea.
So first off, let's get to know our Mr and Mrs a little better, shall we? They are from Sacramento in the Golden State and they live there today. Lauren and Jeremy's happily ever after tracks back to 2014 when their paths crossed for the first time in a bar in Davis, California. They quickly became friends and after a few months, things turned romantic. While they had actually been talking about marriage for quite some time, Jeremy caught Lauren completely off-guard when he popped the question in their home. "Jeremy proposed in the kitchen. It was very intimate and special."
Their nuptials could have played out entirely differently, as they had initially planned on eloping. Except, it very quickly dawned on them that they wanted to share their special day with their loved ones. "Neither of us had been to Positano and we started the planning process only seven months before the ceremony!" It was so important to the couple that everyone who made the journey to Italy had a smashing time and they wanted to ensure that their guests had the chance to enjoy the beauty of the Italian city. They picked the plush four-star Eden Roc Hotel as their base.
Lauren was so grateful to spend the morning with her favourite lady, her mother! "She lives far from me in the US, and we only get to see each other a few times a year. She helped with the finishing touches and made me feel so relaxed going into the ceremony." Lauren looked incredible in a romantic and glamorous chantilly lace Sophia Tolli gown with a plunging V-neckline, a bodice dashed with sequined schiffli lace appliques and a dramatic train. She styled her gown with Badgley Mischka embellished heels, a waltz veil by Toni Federici and sparkling jewellery. The mother of the bride was a picture of elegance in a navy shift dress with a sequin neckline and cuffs.
The groom had a very different start to his wedding day! While Lauren was prepping for the aisle he was cruising the coast with his friends! "We ate pizza and enjoyed the beautiful day. We both are incredibly grateful to our friends and family who made the trip for our special day." Jeremy opted for a custom navy tux and looked dapper to boot. Lauren went with Rosalinda Flowers Weddings Lab in the Amalfi Coast when it came to designing her flowers and her bouquet was a chic blend of creamy blooms.
Lauren and Jeremy both wanted a civil ceremony and they were also on exactly the same page when it came to selecting the venue. "It was not difficult to make the decision to be married on the terrace of the town hall, overlooking the city of Positano and the ocean. The shining sun and the Amalfi coast provided the perfect backdrop for a classic and timeless ceremony." It was an intimate event with their closest family members and friends witnessing them exchanging vows and guitarist Cherubino Fariello providing the romantic soundtrack.
The couple chose a "simple and timeless" aesthetic for their nuptials and they wanted to let the destination do the talking. "We knew we didn’t need a lot of 'frill' being in the city of Positano." After their ceremony, the newlyweds walked through the city soaking in the stunning sights and the fun was only just beginning.
It's so important for couples to get some time together on their wedding day. Before their reception, Lauren and Jeremy toasted to their big day in serious style by taking a private boat tour. They popped a bottle of champagne and we think you'll agree the pictures ooze style and joy!
They have sage advice for couples planning a destination wedding, make sure to leave plenty of time to research suppliers. "It’s important to spend time early on finding the right people to help you! All of the people who helped plan and execute the wedding were incredible and made the experience seamless. By the time we arrived in Italy, there was very little to worry about."
When choosing a reception venue, they wanted to squeeze every last drop out of the astounding vistas! "There were so many options for the reception, but it was important for us to have the reception outside with a view of the coastline and the city. Rada checked all the boxes and then some!" It's no wonder either. Rada Positano is one of the most requested wedding venues on the Amalfi Coast, the jewel in its crown being the bewitching views as there is not one but two terraces on the cliff edge.
Lauren designed her wedding stationary herself and they opted for a refreshing tablescape that acted as a perfect canvas for their sunset reception. The setting was mainly white with pops of blue while pink and cream flowers dotted the tables, all of which married beautifully dusky hues of the sky. For their first dance song, they picked the very apt Lover (First Dance Remix) by Taylor Swift. The newlyweds didn't move a muscle when it came to their honeymoon as they decided to stay and bask in the magic of Positano. "It was absolutely perfect! It was really nice being able to stay put and relax after the wedding festivities."
We would like to say a huge thank you to Lauren and Jeremy and Peggy Piggot at Maison Pestea for sharing the stunning Positano wedding with One Fab Day.
