Our real wedding couple Louise and Scott celebrated their wedding day in style at the rustic Orange Tree House situated on the shores of Strangford Lough in Co. Down. Featuring an idyllic photoshoot by the sea, nods to their three dogs incorporated into the décor and a ride in a vintage car, this is a celebration is not to be missed! Louise and Scott, who both originally hail from Armagh, opted for a rustic theme for their wedding day, with warm neutral shades popping up throughout their floral arrangements, bridesmaid dresses and stationery. From the adorable page boy who was in charge of ring security, to the spectacular sparkler exit, check out this fun-filled wedding day captured by Sasha Treanor Photography below.
Before we dive into their gorgeous wedding day, let's get to know the happy couple a little bit more! Louise and Scott had known each other for many years and it wasn't until a mutual friend tried to set them up that the idea of them becoming a couple was planted. Although they didn't end up together back then, as Louise was busy studying for her nursing exams, Scott was very understanding and patient. Eventually he won her over by arriving to her house with an energy drink, chocolate and coffee. "Even though I looked a mess from studying and was still in my PJs, that never put him off surprisingly," she says. That sounds like love to us!
Fast forward to the proposal, Scott booked a night away to the couple's favourite spot, Rossharbour in Fermanagh. "Scott was trying to play it very cool but downed a bottle of beer on arrival! He’s not one for pictures normally, but he asked for me to bring the selfie stick down to the beach." While Louise was sitting on a swing at the beach, Scott got down on one knee. "I couldn’t believe it! It was so perfect and the ring was all I have ever wanted and more."
From the outset, the couple wanted an intimate wedding surrounded by the people they love. Their main priorities for their special day was that their venue had to be somewhere that was easily accessible for all their friends and family and they wanted their guests to have a good time and not have to travel from the ceremony spot to the reception.
How adorable is Louise's flower girl Ella in her little white dress? As a sweet extra touch she even had a dressing gown to match the rest of the bridal party!
Our glowing bride Louise opted for an Ida Torez tulle gown adorned with pretty dainty floral motifs, accessorising her look with a gorgeous pearl embellished headband. Her bridesmaids wore matching satin latte gowns with ruched bodices and chic up-dos.
The couple's rustic theme aligned perfectly with the ceremony space at Orange Tree House, which was originally built in the 1820s as a church. The exposed brick walls, wooden beams, festoon lighting and stone flagged floor tied in wonderfully with the couples warm neutral colour palette and provided the perfect backdrop for their 'I dos'. Check out that dreamy floral moon gate adorned with pretty dried flowers and foliage.
The couple's page boy Jay was given the important role of 'ring security' during the ceremony! Needless to say he nailed it.
As a lovely addition to the couple's special day, Louise's mum walked down the aisle with her brother at the beginning of the ceremony ahead of the bride as Louise wanted to include her mum as much as possible in their wedding. During the ceremony, the pair included the lighthearted poem The Giraffe and the Monkey by Daniel Thompson, which was their favourite reading from the day.
Louise and Scott chose to have both their ceremony and reception at Orange Tree House, which was the first venue they viewed and even though they visited other potential spots, they knew there was something special about the seaside venue! "The venue itself had so much character and a rustic vibe which we loved. The beach beside the venue was an added bonus!"
After their ceremony the couple and their wedding party made their way to a local church ruin for their photoshoot that feels straight out of a storybook!
The couple had this advice for those embarking on their own wedding planning journey: "Enjoy every minute because it flies by! Laugh, love and dance. Try and greet your guests after your service if you can because the rest of the day is busy. Definitely recommend a videographer to watch back your special day. Don’t stress about the things that you have forgotten or things that didn’t go to plan because no one will notice. Have your day the way you want it!"
From adorable cake toppers to themed cocktails, Louise and Scott's pet dogs were a special part of the couple's wedding day. "We have three fur babies and we really wanted them to join us at Orange Tree House. One of our wee fur babies had a heart condition and we thought it would have been too much to bring him down to Greyabbey for a short while, so we decided against it."
After a stunning photoshoot on the nearby beach, the couple made their way back to the venue for a fun-filled evening surrounded by their closest friends and family. With scratch cards for free drinks and a first dance to Lost Without You by Tim Gallagher, the reception went on to include a spectacular sparkler exit and light up foam batons perfect for photo ops!
Following their wedding, the couple took a well deserved Caribbean cruise with Royal Caribbean for a relaxing retreat to unwind after all the festivities!
