Jessica & Seán celebrated their true love with a sun-kissed summer wedding in a truly fairytale venue. The couple opted for a black-tie Luttrellstown Castle wedding and their outdoor ceremony on the lawn will have you swooning to no end. Featuring romantic blooms in shades of delicate blush and soft bronze, beautiful bow accents, an all-white bridal party, a very special "something old" and "something borrowed" and even a Labrador guest of honour, their wedding day was next-level charming. Radiant bride Jessica was a couture dream in two bespoke gowns by Irish designers. The real wedding couple shared a gorgeous first look moment before they headed to the aisle and their reception held in the ornate dining room was a sight to behold, trust us. Dasha Caffrey Photography utilised her signature elegant and relaxed style to capture the beauty of their big day in all of its sunny glory.
First things first, let's learn more about our newlyweds. Seán is from Dublin and Jessica is from Galway. They met through a mutual friend when they were on a night out in Dublin in 2017, and they've been utterly inseparable ever since. Today, they live in Dublin with their handsome white Labrador Sully.
Their adored furry friend played a role in their engagement too. "Seán proposed in April 2021, and it was a shock but one of the happiest days of our lives. He asked me in our home, on a Saturday morning with Sully beside us – this was just perfect for us, it was so special." Aw, we love a pet proposal. Seán popped the question with a stunning sparkler from Paul Sheeran Jewellers.
The couple dreamt of having a relaxed wedding with "classic and elegant elements" throughout. "The most important thing to us was that the day was personal and reflected us as a couple; we look back on it now and can honestly say it was the absolute best weekend of our relationship to date."
"We didn’t worry too much about the small details. Good food, drinks and entertainment were non-negotiables for us - once you have these elements, I think you can’t go wrong! We always knew we wanted everything to be on site, so that no one had to worry about driving from one place to another and we could get as much out of the day as possible."
The couple viewed a series of venues around the country before they found their dream one. "We never really fell in love with any until we met Paulina in Luttrellstown. It’s private and exclusive to you and your guests which we loved. When you first arrive, it can feel quite formal, but within an hour of being there the staff and the setting become really home like, and it just felt like everything we had wanted for the day."
The party kicked off the night before. "We loved having a BBQ the night before the wedding in Luttrellstown, as we had our close friends and family at this which meant we got to spend some one-to-one time with them before the big day. We stayed there with our closest friends and family as we wanted everyone to be together the morning of."
Her sister surprised her with an incredible photo book on her wedding morning, which looked back on all their memories over the years. "This is something I will always cherish and it was honestly one of the many highlights of my day. She also had an illustration of us with our Labrador Sully created and this was so lovely to get the morning of too."
Jessica says that doing a first look photo ahead of the ceremony was one of the best decisions they made. We can only imagine how Seán felt turning around to see his beautiful bride walking down the steps to meet him. "It put us both at ease and allowed us to have some quality time together before all our guests arrived."
They wanted a timeless aesthetic so they opted for a black-tie celebration and Jessica's bridesmaids wore ivory dresses. Jessica looked sensationally elegant in a bespoke fitted wedding gown which boasted long sleeves with tiered ruffles, delicate puffed shoulders, a thigh-high slit in the skirt, a sweet bow in the back and a train. She accessorised with pearl hoop earrings and pearl-dappled heels.
Seán was immensely suave in his made to measure Louis Copeland & Sons black tuxedo which featured a double-breasted blazer and slacks which was paired with a crisp white shirt with black buttons, a black bow tie, black patent shoes and a velvet black blazer with satin lapels.
Of course, their beloved pooch was present as a very special guest of honour, wearing a very dapper bow tie too. He was minded the night before and he was brought to the ceremony, he even made an appearance in the wedding photos. They couldn't praise their pet chaperone more: "She is truly fantastic, and brilliant at what she does. We didn’t have to worry about Sully at all, and it’s so wonderful to have him in some of our photos."
Remember we teased Jessica's very special "something old" and "something borrowed", well get ready to feel all the feels. She wore her mother's engagement ring along with a diamond necklace that her mum had designed and given to her on her wedding morning. Her sister also found a super sweet way to incorporate her "something blue" by gifting her a wedding bag which had their initials embroidered on the inside in blue thread.
The couple tied the knot in a sun-soaked outdoor ceremony on June 9th, 2023, on the lawn in front of the castle that was just wow, wow, wow.
Their wedding day was given a whimsical injection through the flowers which were a mix of soft pinks and bronze tones.
The couple celebrated the love with a spiritual ceremony witnessed by 120 of their nearest and dearest. They delighted in planning the service and choosing readings that reflected them as a couple.
Talk about a show-stopping entrance from the bride. Simply magical.
A treasured memory that springs to mind from their ceremony was when their best friends Emma and Chris recited a poem version of He’s Not Perfect by Bob Marley. "It was absolutely perfect and felt really personal."
Reminiscing about their romantic ceremony, Jessica highlights, "We wrote our own vows. So it was a very special moment to hear those promises to one another, in front of our family and friends."
They had some surprises up their sleeves to delight their guests.
The wedding party toasted to their happily ever after with a drinks reception on the lawn. The sun beamed down and the bride and groom had thought of a brilliant idea to cool their guests down. They hired an ice cream truck and the 99s went down a treat.
Neutral dresses are one of the hottest bridesmaids dress trends of 2024 and Jessica's bridesmaids exuded grace in their ivory midis with asymmetrical ruffled necklines.
Jessica and Seán's county flags were even flown proudly for their special day, brilliant. Jessica had plenty of brilliant wedding planning advice to share. "When it comes to the build-up and the few weeks before the wedding, try not to worry about the small stuff, book some brilliant suppliers and then leave the rest to them."
As for the wedding morning, leave yourself plenty of time, she explains. "We had lots of time once we were ready in the morning too, and it was lovely to not be rushing around trying to get down to the ceremony on time. We had lots of time for a cheeky drink, some photos and to just take it all in – and so I would suggest to always give yourself an extra hour to soak it all up."
She highly recommends doing a first look photo with your partner. "It meant that we got 90% of our photos done during this time, and we could have a drink and just enjoy ourselves for the rest of the day. We got to spend most of our drink’s reception with our guests and any family photos were done in a few minutes. It meant we got to really enjoy more of the day with our friends and family." "Seán and I both made a speech during the drinks reception too – we did this so that we could just enjoy the rest of the day to the fullest, with no worries or nerves going in to the evening."
Luttrellstown Castle near Dublin offers wedding couples once-in-a-lifetime luxury and our jaws dropped instantly when we saw their reception room. The blush and bronze hues of the blooms and added fluffy dried grasses gave the elegant styling and unmistakably ethereal edge.
Their reception played out with a romantic candlelit glow. Reminiscing about their day, Jessica shares, "I can’t tell you how emotional it felt seeing it all come together."
Wedding signage is so fun, romantic, informative and personal. We have a list of handy one-liners for wedding signage that is sure to make your guests smile and we love Seán and Jessica's.
The couple absolutely adored their wedding video too and no doubt their reception entrance was a highlight of it. "Our wedding video is bloody brilliant – we never wanted anything too emotional or traditional as it’s just not us. We’ll look back on it in years to come with such fond memories."
Bows were a seriously sweet accent from the wedding from the invites to Jessica's wedding dress and the cake. The white tiered (mostly biscuit) cake had a sophisticated aesthetic and it was styled with an oversized silk bow. For their first dance they chose High by Lighthouse Family. "After about 30 seconds our friends came in (thank God) as it’s a song we all love."
Jessica stunned as she changed into her evening gown which was a sublime satin dress with a cowl neckline. They took their reception to new heights of dazzling with a surprise fireworks display. "One of the best memories from the day is standing on the terrace singing Dancing in the Moonlight with sparklers and fireworks in the background – pure magic."
The couple kept the celebrations going as they headed off on their honeymoon a few days after the wedding. They chose the exotic honeymoon hotspot of Bali in Indonesia. "We went to Tembok, Ubud and Seminyak. Everything was just perfect, and I would definitely recommend heading away soon after the wedding if you can. It’s lovely to have some time to yourselves and look back on all the photos and memories from the day."
