Captured by Wonder & Magic, you are destined to fall in love with this celebration.
On Friday the 13th 2020, two days before the lockdown began, Phil batted away any superstition to get down on one knee, asking Klara to be his forever love. "Instead of going out for a nice dinner and proposing as he had planned, he came home from work in the middle of the day and proposed in the kitchen. I was relaxing at home in a tracksuit with a hair mask in and I was so surprised, it was perfect," said Klara.
Klara's dress is simply sublime. To match her elegant black-tie theme she opted for a subtle sweetheart A-line silhouette, with an embellished pearl veil. To complement her details, she wore gold pearl drop earrings and the most to-die-for pair of gold Loeffler Randall bridal shoes. Her minimalist aesthetic captures her less-is-more style perfectly.
Klara and Phil chose the iconic Dublin City Hall as their ceremony venue. Surrounded by ornate domed ceilings and impressive historic interiors, it was a perfect choice for an intimate city wedding. With little to no décor needed, the tall sculptures and incredible lighting paved the way for the most beautiful entrance for Klara. The dashing groom and his groomsmen looked slick in their black tuxedos, beaming smiles, and neutral boutonnieres. While the bridesmaids wore a selection of black dresses from high street brands including Coast, paired with loose Hollywood curls, dainty strapped heels, holding neutral green and white bouquets.
Klara and Phil describe their day as timeless and classic. She explains: "Our wedding was intimate with our immediate family, grandparents, and a few friends. We decided to go with a black-tie theme. I wanted the bridesmaids to choose their dresses so that they would feel comfortable. City Hall was so beautiful that we wanted to keep the décor minimal to emphasise the architecture. Overall we would describe it as a classic black-tie Dublin city wedding."
The emotions were flowing as the lovely couple exchanged their vows. "As I was leaving my house to go to City Hall, a lot of my family and friends called onto our road to see me off. My Granny and Grandad also bought my wedding shoes and my earrings. My Grandad passed away two months before the wedding so it felt very emotional knowing that he would have loved to be with us," said Klara.
As they became united in marriage, the newlyweds embraced the iconic surroundings and took some memorable photographs in City Hall. Videographers Heirloom Films were on hand to capture the day too, with the couple walking through St Stephen's Green as the made their way to the reception venue. "The Shelbourne was amazing from the moment we chose it. As it is another historic Dublin building, we had our meal in the Constitution Room and it felt surreal, the service was just unbeatable. The idea of being able to regularly visit the Shelbourne in our future as a married couple was also a big draw," said Klara.
The idyllic room was dressed with fresh floral centrepieces, tapered candlelight, and unique personalised table napkins with hand-sewn embroidery. The black-tie wedding theme was exquisite against the regal and plush décor of the venue.
Klara and Phil share some of their invaluable wedding planning advice to those in the process. "Spend the day together. I would advise both members of the couple to say a speech also. I said a speech and I was so glad to have told all of my family and Phil how much I loved them all!"
