We were always going to love this real wedding - between the bride's hand-painted pink wedding dress that was made for twirling, her daughter's matching blue ensemble fit for a ballerina, and the groom's bolo tie and cowboy boot combo, the style is absolutely off the charts! US couple Christine and Mike chose Ireland as the location for their intimate destination wedding, kicking off with a personality-filled ceremony at Dublin City Hall and epic portrait session with photographer White Cat Studio, followed by dinner and drinks. We can already tell that their Dublin city hall wedding is going to be a massive hit with brides and grooms-to-be, so let's bring on the photographs!
It's safe to say that we're besotted with Christine's statement bridal look, which comprises a hand-painted pink wedding dress by US designer Chantel Lauren, her grandmother's shoes (close-up to follow!) and an incredibly cool wide-brimmed felt hat.
The bride also chose a bold, oversized bouquet by one of our favourite floral design studios, Your Bloom, for the big day, featuring blush pink roses, vibrant protea and lots of lush greenery, that feels simultaneously pretty and wild!
Christine's 9-year-old daughter, Amelie, served as her maid of honour on the day! "Chantel Lauren made a smaller, blue version of my dress for her," Christine explains. "I hope to pass on the dress for her big day as her something blue."
It sounds like Mike and Christine had an exceptionally romantic engagement! "Mike and I were on an eight-day fly fishing trip in the northwestern corner of Montana," Christine recalls. "He has family from the area, so we went over to the family farm very early on our last day to watch the sunrise. As we were standing there, taking in the view, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!"
When it came time to plan the wedding, Christine and Mike settled on a very intimate destination wedding in Dublin. "The whole day was very calm and easy," Christine says. "Everything seemed to just fall in place and everyone had a great time."
The couple prioritised food, drink and photography, along with spoiling their guests rotten! "Since we were planning a small wedding from the get-go, I really wanted to focus on our guests having a really amazing vacation where we just happened to be getting married. This included lots of sightseeing. Our main focus for the big day was lots of good food, drinks, and, of course, amazing photos to capture it all."
They kept their Dublin city hall ceremony simple, including a hand-fasting ritual and live music. "We hired a local musician a few days ahead of time, so instead of having a generic playlist, we had live music, and it was jaw-dropping! I stopped in the middle of signing the wedding register to watch them!"
How beautiful is little Amelie! We love that her gypsophila flower crown matches Mike's boutonnière!
Christine and Mike tell us that they just couldn't resist Dublin city hall. "The historical aspect of the City Hall was what really drew us to inquire about it. My husband is a really big history buff, and I am a sucker for some good architecture."
The highlight of the wedding for this pair was having their nearest and dearest join them for their Irish adventure! "Because this was a destination wedding, being able to have so many family members was the best part of the day," Christine says.
White Cat Studio created some truly breathtaking portraits for the couple - there are lots more in the gallery at the end of the post, so be sure to click through to see them all! "I was in love with our wedding photographer," Christine says. "Egle was more than willing to move the entire wedding to have her shoot, but luckily, I didn’t have to."
Christine and Mike's portrait session continued out on the streets of Dublin.
Christine's advice for engaged couples is to trust that you will have the best day ever! "It's all going to fall together on the big day," she says, "so just enjoy it! You won’t go through this experience again."
Can I just take a moment to rave about Mike's bolo tie!? Personally, I'm really rooting for this look to become a groomswear trend!
After the drinks reception, the couple and their guests headed to F.X. Buckley on Pembroke St. for dinner, drinks and speeches.
When the big day was over, the couple spent some time travelling around Ireland. "Destination wedding equals automatic honeymoon!" Christine says. "And we loved Ireland!"
Cheers to Christine and Mike's incredibly gorgeous big day! We have to shoot the couple a huge thank you for sharing their wedding with us, and to White Cat Studio for providing the beautiful imagery! Be sure to check out the rest of the photographs in the gallery below.
