Botanical Bliss: Sadie & Dan's Lush Conservatory Wedding

A Victorian glasshouse wedding full of light, life and love!

Giant palms, exotic blooms and trailing creepers  - this isn't a scene from Alice and Wonderland, but our Real Wedding does have botanical whimsy aplenty. From the gardens of Central Park to a Victorian conservatory in Liverpool, Sadie & Daniel's wedding journey is certainly inspired by nature. Bold colour pops combine with rich earthy shades and timeless elegance in this lush wedding captured by Ginger Beard Weddings, which took place in the breathtaking Great Conservatory of The Palm House, Sefton Park, Liverpool. Take a look, and feel inspired!

The couple who have been living in London for over 10 years, travelled to New York for a vacation that became one to remember. After countless steps around Central Park, Dan eventually found his moment to ask Sadie to be his forever partner. "Dan surprised me in New York the day before his 30th birthday. He told me that he walked round with the ring in his pocket all day in Central Park because he could never find the right moment. He asked me that evening and I said yes! We didn’t tell anyone until a couple of days after we were home," says Sadie.

The morning began with a lovely relaxed vibe for the ladies. And we're guessing Ralph - the adorable pup - ensured that all were kept in good spirits as the bridal party were in the talented hands of Lou Rothwell and her glam squad.

With a guestlist of 80 people, the couple set the tone as romantic, laid back and fun for their wedding so their impressive choice of private venue, which first opened in 1896, was ideal. "The ceremony was simple and intimate with family and close friends. Once the evening came we danced all night," says Sadie. "Ultimately we wanted the day to be a celebration of love with those closest to us, and it really was!"

Nestled amongst the magnificent plants of the Great Conservatory, the newlyweds describe the ceremony location as full of life, and just one look at the incredible photos show that it was just that. "It was perfect. On top of that the staff were fantastic!" says Sadie.

Without further ado, let's talk about the chic and effortless style of the wedding. Sadie's sleek dress was from designer Marie Laporte. Dan opted for a neutral custom-made linen suit, which was perfect for a summer wedding, while his open shirt reflected the laid-back vibe the couple was aiming for.

As for the eye-catching wedding party, colour was certainly not spared nor feared. The olive shade of the dresses the bridesmaids wore mixed beautifully with their vibrant bouquets and screamed fun and joy. While the groomsmen wore linen suits similar to Dan.

But hold up, the bride's glam didn't end just there. She completed her exquisite look with accessories both from her hubby, and even more poignantly, her mother who had sadly passed away. "Dan bought me a pair of converse to change into later, so I could dance better" says Sadie. "I wore a selection of jewellery, new and old; my mum's necklace and my earrings which were from Alighieri." Sadie's mother, who was very much missed on the day, was remembered by a lovely gesture. Instead of physical favours, they gave a donation in everyone’s name to Maggie's Wirral, a charity which provides free cancer support and information, in memory of her mum.

After rescheduling their wedding from the year before, it was the first time Sadie and Dan had seen a lot of their friends and family due to the pandemic. Having all of their nearest and dearest around them on the day made it all that more special. "We were so grateful to see everyone there. I think everyone was excited not only for the day, but to be together again and we really felt that. The DJ and the saxophonist were fantastic. We danced and sang our hearts out all night."

A special moment the couple recalled was with Dan's mum during the big day. "Dan’s mum used to be a vicar, so although we had a civil ceremony she took us away for five minutes before we sat down for dinner and did a simple blessing with us, it was lovely taking the time out in the day for us."

Sadie and Dan emphasise the importance of choosing the right suppliers to suit you. "I think it’s really important, especially photographers as they’re with you so much of the day. We wanted laid back natural shots and Paul really captured this without ever feeling like we were getting pulled away from things," says Sadie. "The music was important for us to create the right atmosphere throughout the day. We made playlists for our ceremony and reception which we love putting on still."

Their advice to other engaged couples planning their big day is to simply plan your day you're own way! "Relax and do what’s right for the both of you. Don’t get stressed over every detail, it'll all come together in the end. Finding suppliers you trust is really important, so when the day comes you can just let them take over and you can enjoy it!"

Thank you to Sadie and Daniel for sharing their charming conservatory wedding with us and of course to Paul from Ginger Beard Weddings for providing us with the gorgeous imagery.
