This stunning sunny summer wedding is sure to make you swoon and smile. UK real wedding couple Harriet and Adam chose a unique venue on the north Norfolk coast for their special day which had a beautifully beachy vibe. The couple tied the knot at the historic inn The Hoste Arms in Burnham Market in a gorgeous secret walled garden ceremony. The bride's dreamy wedding wardrobe which was loaded with heartfelt touches and the oceanic colour palette driven by sea blue and sunset orange shades informed everything from the vibrant blooms to the groom's slick style and the gorgeous mix and match bridesmaids dresses. They opted for a "gig" reception and their beachy table plan idea and wedding favours were so perfectly on theme. Their big day was relaxed, so romantic and perfectly them. Lisa & Neil Wedding Photography captured all the magic, so let's re-live it.
Let's kick off by getting to know our newlyweds better. They are both from Suffolk, Harriet is from Clare while Adam is from Haverhill. They met for the first time in a pub in 2011 and as luck would have it they crossed paths again a few weeks later at yet another club. Harriet reveals: "Adam found me on social media and asked me out for a date. The rest was history."
Adam popped the question on New Year's Eve 2021 after they had been together for just over a decade. "All our friends always laughed and joked and said to me that Adam had a 10-year plan, guess what he did. He proposed to me on Salthouse Beach in Norfolk (our first ever beach we went to together) with our daughter Zola and our beagle pup Ziggy with us."
Harriet reminisces: "I was completely blown away that it had finally happened and for some reason for the rest of the day, I found myself spontaneously clapping throughout the rest of the evening. It was a perfect proposal with our little family, in one of our most favourite spots." Today they live in Birdbrook, a picturesque small village on the Suffolk and Essex border.
The couple wanted a relaxed intimate wedding day with a "gig vibe evening". "We wanted everyone that we hold near and dear to fall in love with Norfolk, have a break away and come and celebrate us ‘finally’ tying the knot. Life can get very stressful and sometimes overwhelming. We gave everyone a reason to book a weekend away in Norfolk and enjoy some free time. As well as getting everyone to the beach the night before the wedding and watch the sunset with fish and chips. (Which we did)."
"It was just ‘us’ to a T," they say when asked why they fell head over heels for their wedding venue. Originally a village pub, it has been welcoming guests since the 1650s. It was the relaxed pub and hotel vibe and the quaint courtyard garden area, which has a beautiful walled secret garden, that sealed the deal. "The atmosphere just always made us feel relaxed and comfortable, so as soon as we knew they hosted weddings we couldn’t believe our luck. Plus, the amount of accommodation available is perfect for all your guests, the rooms are sublime."
They opted for a "natural, whimsical and beach-like aesthetic." Harriet was an ethereal dream in her A-line wedding dress which had a deep V-neckline and was covered in a sensational 3D lace with scalloped straps. The skirt flowed so beautifully with every step she took and it had pockets too. She added a celestial edge with her sparkling star and pearl hair pins and she wore matching pearl earrings. She chose a cathedral veil dappled with delicate floral embroidery along with open-toe heels.
There are so many beautiful ways to remember loved ones who are no longer with you at your wedding. Harriet payed a gorgeous tribute to her late family members through her wedding wardrobe. "I have lost two incredibly important men in my life my father and my brother so the day itself was an emotional one, I had a beautiful brooch which was on my bouquet with a picture of my brother given to me by my eldest sister Sarah, which she carried with her on her wedding day."
"It was borrowed, blue and old. I also was given another beautiful piece of jewellery which was a memory bracelet that had a photo of my father, brother and my little dog Louie, given to me by my sister Katie." Harriet let her bridesmaids choose their own dresses to suit their own style and they looked wonderful in mix and match bridesmaid dresses in shades of rust and light blue.
Their daughter Zola made the most adorable flower girl in her floaty dress with floral appliques and semi-sheer sleeves which had the same ethereal vibe as her mother's gown. Groom Adam looked so dapper in his bespoke wedding suit which featured a burnt orange waistcoat and deep navy blazer which married with the vibrant wedding flowers, the bridesmaids dresses and the overall oceanic theme.
68 guests joined them on August 12th, 2023, to celebrate their special day and they tied the knot in a garden ceremony. The flowers boasted a cacophony of soft and deep hues from pale blush to warm peach and rich blue. "We rented our ceremony plinths for our ceremony flowers, draping and candles. It was so handy having florists that really do it all."
They created the romantic soundtrack to their ceremony themselves as they put together a Spotify playlist. Their favourite track from their entire wedding was their entrance music to the wedding breakfast which was Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.
The newlyweds looked a picture of bliss after they exchanged vows, what a special moment it must have been to walk down the aisle as husband and wife with their daughter and they were showered with confetti.
Their family friend Noel made their wedding bands, in fact he had also made Adam's sister's wedding rings prior to that. Of course, their adorable dog Ziggy made a special appearance on the big day.
After the 'I dos' were said, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed tipples and canapes in the sunshine as their wedding band served up a chilled live acoustic set.
They were so impressed with their wedding planner, who made bringing their dream wedding day to life an absolute breeze. "Jade was our amazing wedding co-ordinator from The Hoste, she was with us through every step of the way and made our day just perfect."
We absolutely love their wedding photos as they took a romantic stroll around the postcard-pretty town.
They made a sweet pit-stop for 99 ice creams!
The seaside shades permeated through the reception styling too while the wedding signage had a sleek, pared-back aesthetic. Anyone who is planning a beach wedding will want to steal their seating plan idea as they placed theirs on a surfboard.
For their table place cards they used ivory linen cards and handwrote names. They rolled up their sleeves and made their wedding favours by collecting large oyster shells from Mersea Island in Essex. "We cleaned them up and turned them into beautiful candles with a kelp and mint scent. They were the perfect keepsake for our guests."
We were curious to hear what wedding planning advice they had for couples and they were very clear about it. "To remember it's ‘your day’ to have what you want as a couple, and bloody enjoy every moment. Also make sure you schedule in even just 10 minutes together after the ceremony just to have a moment together to celebrate you are now husband and wife, as the day just goes by in a flash."
They held their reception in the Garden Room, a light-filled and gently glamorous space with statement chandeliers that boasts wonderful views of the walled garden.
Reflecting on what made their wedding so memorable, Adam tells us: "It was the relaxed atmosphere of the whole day, from the venue being perfect to the guests being amazing, the team from The Hoste Arms ensuring everything ran smoothly. I felt like I didn’t have to worry about anything other than doing my speech."
For Harriet it was that: "We achieved the intimate wedding we always wanted, just being surrounded by our closest family and friends." She adds: "Having a memory table was super special to remember and celebrate those that were unable to be with us in person on our special day."
Adam's sister created a tastebud tantalising salted caramel and lemon posset wedding cake which was dappled with vibrant blooms. The celebrations had a slight nostalgic air as their "totally awesome" wedding band served up 90s brit pop along with modern indie rock classics. They chose a stripped back version of Overcome by Nothing but Thieves for their first dance.
They didn't practice a dance routine for it as they "just wanted to be ourselves in the moment." Their little lady joined them on the dancefloor later for a boogey. They celebrated tying the knot by heading off to Cornwall with their daughter and their dog where they rented out a gorgeous little cottage and explored their favourite beaches together.
A huge congratulations Harriet and Adam, thank you for sharing your beautiful coastal garden wedding with One Fab Day. A massive thanks to Lisa & Neil Wedding Photography for the absolutely incredible images.
