Temple House is a magnificent mansion set amidst a 1,000-acre private estate overlooking the lakeside ruins of a Knights Templar castle. Half a mile of avenue meanders through lush parkland and ancient trees salute as you approach the elegant Country House.
Perhaps it is because it has been the family home since 1665 that makes the atmosphere so peaceful and special for weddings. Temple House boasts rooms of enormous proportions and grandeur and yet there is a real sense of intimacy too.
Your wedding reception at Temple House is supposed to be a great big house party - a very special party. It is unusual and deliberately different. You seek an elegant alternative to the regular hotel receptions and a relaxed country-house reception appeals.
Hold your ceremony in the Gallery which has a wonderful skylight, or enjoy the ceremony or blessing in the terraced gardens. They can welcome small intimate gatherings or larger parties.
They can seat up to 120 in one room and 160 between two gorgeous rooms. This may not be the regular set up but this is not your ordinary venue. They like to do the speeches before the meal in the garden or from the grand staircase so there is much greater flexibility plus you will be able to relax and taste the food!
Their in-house chef is fantastic and can create the perfect menu according to your preferences and we will always be pleased to discuss your ideas. Temple House's philosophy is that it should look good and taste great using the freshest of local and artisan ingredients.
The big house sleeps twenty so exclusivity is easy. A cottage sleeping eight is also on the estate, while local hotels and B&Bs offer a flexible approach to accommodation. Temple House ask that the exclusive takeover starts the day before the wedding so that the excitement builds from the moment you arrive and you will enjoy your stay all the more.

Testimonials
Fantastic venue for a wedding. We had a great time celebrating ours at Temple House. The grounds and rooms are all gorgeous. Highly recommended. Kate & Chris
From the minute we stepped through the door over a year before our big day, we knew it was the place for us. Welcoming and unique, the house offers both grandeur and homeliness. Roderick is an exceptional host. He is gracious and attentive with humor and charm and ensures that you and your guests have all that you could wish for. The whole team was truly fantastic. One of our guests remarked that watching the speeches on the staircase reminded them of the intimacy and emotion of Christmas Eve. One of the wedding party took us aside to say that the house, although grand, made them feel comfortable as soon as they arrived and that staying there made the day truly special. Having our wedding at Temple House was easily one of the best decisions we ever made. Mary & David
It was incredible. Roderick and Helena were excellent throughout. They were responsive and supportive with all arrangements prior to the day. We found them to be very welcoming and we appreciated their laid-back approach. All staff were so friendly and smiley, they were a pleasure to have around. The house itself is magnificent and a great place to stay. We had it for the whole weekend. We also took advantage of the cottage along a private road not far from the house. It was a great place for the groom and groomsmen to stay prior to the wedding day. We would recommend the intimate meal with your nearest and dearest the night before the wedding also. The venue speaks for itself but there is the option to decorate it further should you wish. Roderick really helps move your guests from room-to-room throughout the day. He even lets you bang the gong to help if you wish! We released up to 50 Chinese lanterns that night. Watching them rise into the air was magical and was complemented by Temple House’s beautiful grounds and clear starry skies. Thank you again to all at Temple House. Holly & Adam
Thanks again for letting us celebrate our wedding at your beautiful house. The day was truly amazing and everybody had a wonderful time. Ellen & Brian
We had our day at Temple House during Storm Desmond. The fires were lit and soft lights enticed our guests in out of the wind and rain. We felt embalmed by the warm welcome afforded us by Roderick, Valerie, and the girls. Guests arrived to be awed by the splendor of the building which became their home for the weekend. The food was stunning, spectacularly presented and extremely satisfying, on both days. There was plenty of it too! The rooms were cosy and carried that awe factor that period mansions of that era supply. Everywhere had an air of having been freshly cleaned and readied for all and sundry. I suspect we’re already planning the anniversary parties at Temple House, such was our level of being impressed with the place. I couldn’t recommend it to any prospective bride and groom more highly. We wanted something different for our wedding. We wanted something with a much more personal touch and not just the standard hotel wedding. We wanted it to feel like we were inviting our friends and family into our home to celebrate with us. One other thing to throw into the mix – I no longer lived in Sligo – so I was arranging the wedding via email from Florida. Temple House was perfect! Roderick and Helena are very hands on and they were both completely involved in every aspect of the planning and executing of the wedding. I really appreciated this. It meant that we were dealing with the people who would actually be carrying out all the tasks on the day itself. They were incredibly easy to work with, even from the US. We really felt like they were part or the family (or we were part of theirs). I had lots of requests in terms of dealing with allergies – no dairy, some vegetarian folks, no fish/seafood, gluten free options…the list was endless. Their response? No problem! I had some ideas for food and Helena added her suggestions and together we came up with a totally unique Irish/American allergy friendly plan. Our close family stayed in Temple House with us for the weekend and they were totally blown away by the beauty and grandeur of the house. We enjoyed a wonderful family dinner the night before the wedding, in the incredibly beautiful dining room and then retired to the drawing room for after dinner drinks. It was so nice to cosy up to the fire and catch up with everyone in a relaxed way the night before the big day. The morning of the wedding we had our friends join us for an incredible brunch. So fun and so delicious! We were the first couple to get married in the newly refurbished billiard room. It is a beautiful space with an enormous sky light. It was the first time it has been used since 1860! I cannot say enough about Roderick and Helena. We completely customised our wedding and the food, service and friendliness was exceptional! Deirdre
This is a wonderfully unique venue and perfect for an indoor or outdoor wedding. We were blessed with amazing weather allowing us to have fantastic photographs and the drinks reception and speeches outside. Everyone who came to the wedding commented on the special venue. Helena and Roderick were very helpful in guiding our plans for the day but we were able to add lots of bespoke elements, you will not be fixed to a package at Temple House, but allowed to add your own touches. We had the house for three nights from Friday to Monday, with our immediate family staying at the house. The food was very good and we had a wide choice for the menu. The location allowed us to use good local suppliers for cake, flowers, transport etc. This is a special venue and one that will not disappoint. Louise
We loved the relaxed, family home atmosphere and different options with regard to the wedding ceremony and reception. The Percevals are extremely good hosts that have an excellent, very polite and efficient team around them that made the day go by smoothly. Also, the cook is great and had the entire menu perfectly served for all our guests. Some guests even suggested that the pistachio mousse on a chocolate base was the best dessert they had ever eaten. We loved that we had the entire place to ourselves and that the Perceval family was very flexible and accommodating with regard to our plans to have a BBQ the evening before our wedding along the shore of Temple House lake. We were able to implement all our decoration ideas and the entire team was very helpful in implementing it. Aleke & Killian
