When planning their wedding celebration, Lucy and Harry's vision was clear – they wanted a relaxed and fun atmosphere with family and friends, personal details made with love, and a bright and bold palette of orange and green on a day in Summer at Killeavy Castle Estate. And when we say they ticked all their boxes and more? Let the evidence, as captured beautifully by Iain Irwin do all the talking!
It was way back in school that Portadown couple Harry and Lucy first met. Lucy fills us in, "We were a few years apart and were friends there. We also kept in touch at a church youth group and started dating a few years later."
Harry proposed to Lucy in the sand dunes of Portstewart Strand, where the couple had their first date. "We enjoyed a day at the coast together, then came home to a family party to celebrate!"
Lucy's gorgeous dress is by the designer Heidi Hudson which she found while dress shopping at Wed2be in Belfast. She completed her bridal look with lush green velvet heels and green earrings.
Lucy sourced the gorgeous green bridesmaids dresses and their gold heels on Duntery.
When it came to planning their day, the couple envisioned a day that was "pretty, bright and bold, and the feel to be relaxed, welcoming and fun."
Lucy and Harry's nephew who was five months old at the time charmingly serving as the ring bearer!
Their priority from the very beginning was "definitely the people, we were keen to have as many of our friends and family join with us, but also wanted a few cool touches – like a super long confetti line up leading to a pizza truck!"
The pair said I do at Portadown Baptist Church. The couple fondly remembers this special part of the day - "The praise during the ceremony was so special, especially when the band cut out and the congregation sang the doxology a cappella."
The beautiful bouquets on the day were created by Ivy and Wild. All of the other gorgeous blooms were the handiwork of the Lucy's mum!
Pizza right after the wedding ceremony? Um, yes please!
After the ceremony, the couple and 150 of their nearest and dearest headed to Killeavy Castle Estate in Newry for the wedding reception celebration. The pair fell in love with the venue for a for a number of reasons. " its scenic backdrop is beautiful, and we loved how you got to mix the castle wedding feel with the intimacy of dinner in the pavilion – the best of both worlds!"
We can't get over the talents of this bridal crew! All the stationery was designed by the couple themselves, the flowers were locally sourced and arranged by Lucy's mum and their cake was baked with love by the bride's grandmother.
For wedding favours the pair gifted their guests a complimentary coffee voucher for the groom’s coffee shop which we're sure went down a treat after the big day!
Just how sweet is the cake that Lucy's grandmother baked and decorated?!
Lucy's advice to engaged couples is, "decide on your combined priorities at the beginning of the planning, and work your budget around this. For us, for example, we cared a lot about having all our loved ones there, so accounted for more guest space when looking for a venue and allocating our budget. This meant we cut back our spending in other ways, and were grateful for all the help our families gave in making and decorating!"
The newlyweds kicked off the floor with their first dance to Foy Vance's 'Elshaneed'.
After the celebrations the couple spent a relaxing week in Corfu. "Greece is so beautiful, with lots of different islands to explore, would definitely recommend it."
